PV Array

Picture

Ralph & Sean take the first module out for testing with the VOM meters. These are single-crystalline PV modules which produce 225 Watts each. They were manufactured by Mobile Solar in 1991.

These modules are now manufactured by ASE Americas. Efficiency has been improved greatly over the past 10 years. The newest versions of this module produce 300 Watts.

Each student had the opportunity to measure PV module performance with the meter.

Once all the modules were tested, we brought them inside the classroom/worshop for assembly into two arrays of four PV modules each.

Eight 225 Watt PV Modules are mounted on two poles. Altogether 1800 Watts are produced in full sun. Over the course of the year, this PV array will produce over 4000 kilo-Watt hours of crystal clean energy!
