NASA Global Satellite
Solar Radiation DataSet

SőL and its partners, CREST and
Solar Energy International and have teamed up with NASA to make available a global solar radiation database to be used for more accurate design of photovoltaic systems.

A Worldwide Solar Radiation Database
is available for any cell area, 200 kilometers square, in the world. The database is available for use with SolarSizer, a photovoltaic design software program developed by CREST and SEI.

NASA's Global Satellite Solar DateSet
(8 year data set 1984 - 1992) is translated by a program called GeoSol which exports results to SolarSizer (Version1.1) for the purpose of designing solar energy systems. GeoSol calculates monthly average values for fixed tilt, polar axis tracking and dual axis tracking. It also calculates the optimum tilt angle to maximize annual output. For information on SolarSizer Demo Version.

Daily Data for Simulation
The NASA database also has daily sequential data over a period of four years. With this data it is possible to simulate the actual performance of a solar energy system over the four-year period.

SolarSizer (Version 1.5)
will soon be available as a downloadable product incorporating the NASA Global Satellite Solar DateSet, including an energy performance simulation using daily insolation data.

Would you like SoL to Notify you
when the NASA Database becomes available with SolarSizer 1.5?
